What Makes a Motorcycle Bag Waterproof?

At highway speed, rain is driven into every seam and opening, and road spray coats the back of the bike for hours. A stitched bag with a rain cover lets water in at the stitch holes and around the cover edges. Our waterproof motorcycle bags are formed from PVC or TPU fabric with high-frequency welded seams, so the body has no needle holes, and they close with a roll-top or an airtight zipper. Reflective details and strap anchors are welded on, so the shell is never pierced.

How Are Our Motorcycle Bags Tested?

Motorcycle bags face vibration, wind load and grit as well as water. IPX7 bags go through a full water-immersion test of two hours or more on sampled units from every batch, and IPX6 bags are tested against heavy rain and water jets. Mounting straps, buckles and D-rings are pull-tested, bags go through more than 1,500 load cycles, zippers are cycled 3,000 times, and metal hardware goes through salt spray testing for winter road salt. When customers inspect shipments, we follow the full procedure of unboxing, vacuum extraction, a 24-hour static rest and an air-leak determination.

Can Motorcycle Bags Be Customised?

Yes. We produce motorcycle bags with your logo, Pantone colours, reflective prints, mounting systems and packaging, or develop a new design for a specific bike or rack. Our 55 litre three-way bag is a registered design, so OEM programmes based on it are developed as an original shape. Which is better for touring, a tail bag or saddlebags?

A tail bag is quicker to fit and keeps weight near the centre of the bike. Saddlebags carry more and lower the centre of gravity, which helps on gravel and in crosswinds. Many riders use both.

Are waterproof motorcycle bags fully waterproof?

Roll-top bags rated IPX6 keep out sustained heavy rain and road spray at speed. Bags with airtight zippers rated IPX7 also survive short immersion, such as a river crossing.

Will motorcycle saddlebags fit my bike?

Throw-over saddlebags fit most bikes with a rear seat. Check exhaust clearance with the bags fully loaded and fit a heat shield or support where needed.

How much weight can motorcycle saddlebags carry?

Our 60 and 80 litre saddlebag pairs are rated for up to 50 kilograms in total. Our 45 litre roll-top tail bag is designed for 8 to 12 kilograms.
